Favorite Wedding Venues in Northern Vermont

By 802 Vermont Photography

Looking for the perfect place to say “I do” in Northern Vermont? These are three of my favorite wedding venues to photograph—each with its own vibe, stunning backdrops, and the kind of charm that makes your day feel effortless and unforgettable.

Snow Farm Vineyard –

South Hero, VT

Website: snowfarm.com

Snow Farm Vineyard & Distillery is one of those places where everything just clicks—beautiful light, variety in scenery, and a relaxed vibe that keeps the day moving naturally. Nestled on the Lake Champlain Islands, it offers views of the Adirondacks, sweeping vineyards, and a cozy barn and tasting room perfect for a chill but elegant celebration.

What I love most as a photographer is the range of photo ops: a sunset over the lake, intimate portraits in the vines, wide shots from Fox Hill. Whether you're planning a big celebration or something small and personal, this place delivers every time.

The Notch House –

Lake Willoughby, VT

Website: notchhouse.com

Tucked between the dramatic cliffs of Mount Pisgah and Mount Hor, The Notch House is a historic estate with serious character. It’s got nine bedrooms, rustic cottages, private lake access, and a gorgeous timber-frame barn—all surrounded by forest and quiet.

The whole venue can be yours for the weekend, which makes it feel more like a getaway with your favorite people than just a wedding. It’s the kind of spot where the day doesn’t feel rushed—morning lake dips, slow coffee on the porch, and dancing under twinkle lights in the barn. And the photo opportunities? Endless.

The Barn at Top of the World – Derby, VT

Website: thebarnattopoftheworld.com

If you want big skies and even bigger views, this one’s hard to beat. The Barn at Top of the World sits high above the Northeast Kingdom with panoramic views of Jay Peak, Lake Memphremagog, and rolling fields in every direction. There’s a ceremony lawn, a rustic indoor barn space, and an outdoor chapel.

The golden-hour light here is unreal—it’s warm, soft, and flattering, which makes portraits effortless. The team is fantastic to work with, and the whole experience is peaceful and down-to-earth. It’s one of my favorite spots for couples who want that “just us, just right” feeling.

Final Thoughts

Whether you're drawn to vineyard views, lakeside estates, or mountaintop barns, Northern Vermont has no shortage of dream wedding venues. These three have consistently stood out to me for their beauty, flexibility, and how comfortable they make both couples and photographers feel.

If you're planning your wedding and want help choosing a venue—or you're looking for a photographer who knows these spots inside and out—get in touch. I'd love to help bring your vision to life.
